I read yesterday that VHS is pretty much dead. Me having grown up with VHS back in the 80's I really hated reading that. Sure, some people will argue that new is better, or some will say new doesn't always mean better. Well, DVD is good, but I'm pretty set in my ways and hate change. I'll always be partial to VHS tapes. With the help of business such as Netflix, video stores across the country are closing their doors. I also read that Poloriod had stopped making their instant camaras. Before long their 600 Poloriod film will no longer be available because of the digital camara age. Some say that the Poloroid film is much superior and rich in color than the digital. Again, new doesn't always mean better...

Are you going to hate to see both the VHS tapes and/or Poloroid camara vanish? What do you think will be the next to go that's been in our pop culture the past 30 years? Only time will tell....

VHS is dead a doornail... good ridence. Some old tech was better. Reel to reel, vinyl records, ect... but vhs just sucks so freakin hard.

I don't know about Poloroid being dead.. becouse the quality of your average digital camera and printing station just aint all that. Sure you can buy a good 11 megapixel one.. but no one does.

Just think. A couple of years from now, or maybe even sooner, you won't even have to buy dvd's. Digital Downloads is gonna be the next wave of better technology. You're gonna be able to dowload trailers, movie shorts, tv spots, and anything else to help you buy yer next movie title. The biggest plus is being able to buy the different quality of movies to fit yer tv. Widescreen or not, 480i + p, 720i + p, or 1080i + p....

Shit... you can download movie "rentals" on your xbox 360, tv shows, music videos. Even apple has there own rental and appleTV options!!

And yes. VHS is thankfully dead.

There are groups like the White Stripes who still use reel to reel to record their music!!

Yeah, I have a 62" 1080p big screen TV I bought last summer.

Ummm do you own an xbox 360? and then there is this hd divx
The xbox has hd video rentals on it (7 bucks a pop I believe) and there is free h.d. (admittingly illegal) on the web.

VHS is pretty much dead???? Geez!!! What am I gonna do with all my VHS tapes?????

Well....I guess I'd better build up on the ole DVD collection...

No more Polaroid 600 film??? I'm going to have a useless camera? Now that just isn't right! Even if I do have a digital camera....I like my Polaroid camera.

What do you think will be the next to go that's been in our pop culture the past 30 years?

gee...I hope it isn't the rubiks cube...I still haven't figured it out yet!

I don't think vinyl will ever die though. Some people still think it sounds better than cd's or mp3's.

BG, I don't have an xbox360.

Suagrnspice, I currently have 899 movies taped, and almost everyone one of those movies are on VHS tapes.

I too got me a Poloroid camara and film about 3 years ago.

I have also heard that vinyl is better than cd's and mp3's.

I am tone deaf, I cannot hear the suttle diferences between lp's and cassetes or cd's. I have red green color blindness and though i see color, it is dificult to actually capture and process the extreme effects that are available today on high definition media. I cant really say much about the poloroid camera, I never had one.

You dont think internet dating sites are the next to go do you?

For Sale.................A whole bunch of fuckin worthless 8 track tapes. Just joined by almost worthless VHS tapes and cassettes.

Whole truckload going cheap. Make great target practice material. They sure bust up pretty with a 12 gauge

I still have tons of VHS tapes and I have 2 VHS/DVD Players, so if one breaks I still have the other. I have noticed that the DVD players break every 3 months of so. What is up with that? I have owned 4 VHS recorders over the last 15 years and 4 DVD players over the last 4 yrs!!!!

Yes and so are audio cassettes, 8 tracks, and 78 rpm phonograph records.
