This will be Don's last post on AMD. I'm a good friend of Don's and he has authorized me to post this, his last post to the AMD blogs. Don had a heart attack last week. He is doing better now however he remains hospitalized in cardiac ICU where he will probably remain for the next week or so. Don has asked me to thank all of his friends at AMD for their support and friendship thru all of the hard times. He wishes that he could present these sentiments personally but knows that his true friends here will understand and wish him well in all of his future endeavorers.
He wishes to leave you all with this final post by what is one of his all time favorite southern rock bands :38 Special.
He thought that this would be a fitting farewell to all that know him here, don't ask me why, that was his thought. He said that his friends would understand.
He instructed me to leave you all with this: "Thank you all for all you've done for me and for your support of AMD-FM thru these times. I love you all so very much and will miss you terribly. I have had the pleasure of knowing Don. I have spoken with him on the phone a few times, but we have not spoken in three or four months since he moved from Florida to Georgia. This has ruined my day.
I didn't read his blog initially because, even though he is a great guy, reading song lyrics is not an interest of mine.
In reading between the lines and knowing him, I feel that I can share something I have known for months. Don is terminally ill, ate up with cancer and his liver and kidneys have been failing for months. The last time we spoke before Thanksgiving, he told me that tests showed reduced kidney and liver functions. “It moves the expiration date up, not sure how much.”
