Let me just start out by saying a big thank you to all my friends here at AMD who have welcomed me back so warmly from an extended absence. You guys are the sunshine of my life and thanks to you “I’m feelin’ stronger every day.”

NOW:

Today on your AMD-FM; is it a city or a band? Well as it turns out it’s both and they ROCK! But for our purposes here today we’ll concentrate on the band with a lil history as always.

Perhaps more than any other city in the United States, Chicago, located at the center of the nation, has reflected the cultural diversity that has served as both a nurturer of significant musical talent and a magnet that drew the best from other areas. Jazzman Lionel Hampton arrived in Chicago when he was 11 years old in 1919, blues man Muddy Waters got there in 1943, when be was 28. But Benny Goodman, the King of Swing, didn't have to travel, he was born in Chicago in 1909.
In 1967, in Chicago a group of DePaul University students, musicians Walter Parazaider, Terry Kath, Danny Seraphine, Lee Loughnane, James Pankow, Robert Lamm, and Peter Cetera formed a group with one dream, to integrate all the musical diversity from their beloved city and weave a new sound, a rock 'n' roll band with horns. and went professional as a cover band called The Big Thing. Upon release of their first record in early 1969, the band took a new name, Chicago Transit Authority. Soon after the album's release, the band's name was shortened to simply Chicago, when the actual Chicago Transit Authority threatened legal action. Their dream turned into 20 Top Ten singles, 12 Top Ten albums (five of which were #1), and sales of more than 120 million records.
February 15, 2008 marks the 41st Anniversary of Chicago. With an astonishing 50 hits in the U.S. alone (including 20 Top 10 smashes and 9 weeks at the Top of the charts), Chicago is one of the best-loved and most successful bands in rock history. Of their albums, 18 are gold, 13 are platinum, 12 have reached the top 10, and 5 have hit #1. Of their singles, Chicago enjoys 20 Top 10 hits, 5 #1 records and 5 gold singles. In addition, they have also received a Grammy Award, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and continue to be a top live attraction, successfully touring throughout the U.S. and internationally every year.
So here for your reminiscing pleasure from Chicago VI:

“Feelin’ Stronger Every Day”

Composers:James Pankow/Peter Cetera

I do believe in you
And I know you believe in me
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
And now we realize
Love's not all that it's supposed to be
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I'm feelin' stronger every day

I know we really tried
Together we had love inside
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
So now the time has come
For both of us to live on the run
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I'm feelin' stronger every day
Yeah, yeah, yeah

After what you've meant to me
Ooh baby now
I can make it easily
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I know that we both agree
Best thing to happen to you
The best thing that happened to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Feelin' stronger every day
Feelin' stronger every day
Feelin' stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I'm alright now)
Feeling stronger every day

Today’s video was recorded live in Las Vegas for the program 'Sin City' on October 4, 1998.
The Chicago 1998 tour had ended about a month earlier. This was truly a last minute (national television) engagement. Hence the beard... and the performance.
