Actor Allan Melvin most famous for playing " Sam the butcher " ( house keeper Alice's flame ) on " The Brady Bunch ". It didn't ring a bell with me as I never watched that show. But when I investigated further, I knew who he was because he also played Archie Bunker's neighbor/pal, Barney Heffner and was the voice for Magilla Gorilla.

Thank you Wordsofwit, for taking the time to read my blog and for posting your nice comment.I appreciate both.I remember him best from The Brady bunch , and also from Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. he had a recurriing role on that show also.I read in the article that he did play Archie Bunkers neighbor, on that show, and also that he did voice several cartoon characters, among them Magilla Gorilla , whom i remeber very well, i watched that cartoon very often as a child.Thanks for posting some of the other characters that he played and or voiced.Have a wonderful 2008 and beyond.Peace.
