I kind of got this ideer from Sxze...but then Canu and I was talking again (yea...we still do that) and the ideer got bigger...

We all have standards...both for ourselves and for the people we want to interact with. Whether it's for a relationship, a friendship or just people we hang out with.

Some people want someone who's intelligent, and can carry on a conversation, other's want someone who's great in bed...

But, sometimes we hold others to a higher standard then we ourselves live up to. I guess it's natural...we may have high standards for ourselves, but don't always live up to them, yet expect others to meet or exceed those standards.

For example:

My ex- expected me to keep a clean house. He always insisted that he was a neat person, and always complained about my house being messy. Yet, any time I went to his house...there were dishes in the sink, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in weeks. His house was cluttered...usually no better than mine on a bad day. But he chose to ignore this and focus on my shortcomings instead.

It happens here on AMD as well...alot of people complain about not getting laid...yet there are plenty of people here who are willing to accommodate them.
The problem? least part of it could be that the people who the complainers would fuck don't want anything to do with them, and the ones who'd fuck the complainers don't measure up to their standard...

Does that make sense?'s a scenario:

Someone is always 'playing' in the forums, leaving raunchy comments, flirting with people...and complaining they don't get laid. They have in their profile that they're looking for 'tall, dark and handsome'...or 'voluptuous blond', or something like that...very high standard. They want intelligence, or someone who makes alot of money...yet they portray themself as a slut or a horndog...

Now I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone...I'm just saying that it seems as though if these people just lowered their standards a little...maybe to the point that it's level with how they portray themself, they might have a better chance. Or vise-verse...maybe they should try emulating the type of person they think they want...

Just sayin'

Oh...but does that mean Canu should try being more like a midget? I mean...4 feet tall could be kinda fun...

Gonna have 'em thinking thats all we do.... lol!

focus on my shortcomings instead.
Your commings were short with him? I've never witnessed that happen with me... they are pretty damned long!

just lowered their standards a little
Canu should try being more like a midget?

Well how much lower can one get than a midget?

Your ex was a perfect example of a double standard. Don't do as I do, do as I say.

As for the complainers....... yeah, I suppose they COULD lower their standards to get their needs met........... but, honestly.... from the chronic complainers I've been around in my lifetime..... they will complain about anything and everything. Nothing is ever enough.

If you're still working on the midget thing........ you could try blindfolding canu and inhaling some helium from a balloon for a little psudeo muchinkin action

Just a thought........

I don't know it's so much of a double standard as it is that so many seem to expect that they deserve someone better than they themselves are willing to be...

A person that is compatible and comparable to your self is always the key.
I have my standards and when I have for various reasons lowered them for a certain person it never works out anyway.
I would say stick to your standards as long as they are realistic to begin with.

I think a lot of times they are getting it regularly but by saying I havent had it in.......x amount of time..........they wont come off looking as a player........JMHO
