I know ya'll have probably seen this already, but I wanted to share it again:
Instructions for Life ...from the Dalai Lama:
1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three Rs: Respect for self, respect for others and responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Once a year, go some place you've never been before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Very nice; a green thingy for ya. I love Eastern philosophy; enough so that I shall offer my own to the gods & goddesses (mostly the ladies) of AMD...
To attain true liberation, one must not merely commit his karma to bondage, but stop the influx of his karma as well as shed it.
Basically, own your pain so it doesn't consume you or transform you, then correct the mechanisms that brought pain, which frees you to release the power that pain had over you by preventing its return.

I actually got to see the Dalai Lama speak a few months ago when he was in the US at Emory....pretty amazing guy. I wish more people would actually listen to what he has to say.
And as a side note, I ironically went to his speech instead of studying for a test on Buddhism I had the next day, lol.

To attain true liberation, one must not merely commit his karma to bondage, but stop the influx of his karma as well as shed it. I would venture to say that to attain true liberation, one should forget karma...
Forget Karma, the three fold law, all that happy crap...
I'll explain, people get predisposed to worrying about their soul, their karma, and whatnot, I offer up, you should find your inner moral compass, follow that compass. If you are doing what your heart tells you is right all day everyday, guess what? You no longer need worry about karma, eternal rewards or punishment, none of that stuff, it is all a given then.
People have a propensity to dwell upon the effects or punishment/reward rather than the behavior. I offer that if we focus on behavior first, the rewards will follow as a bonus.
Of course this will only work if everybody is a good person huh? Ah well one day we may get there.
