If I had to wager a guess about the relationship of a master and sub. i would say it is about absolute trust and respect. it is a relationship of love. I dont know much about it, But I am near certain that the lifestyle is not about ownership of another person. So subs, it sounds to me that you want a piece of property. You want to own a sub. Resorting to calling some one such a name is not right. And speaks of someone that does not wish for love or trust or respect. That is not the role of a Dom. And from people i know who have an interest in such a life. The master is just as much a slave to his sub and she is to him. Reverse roles where necessary.

Far easier to "win" an argument on reason and fact, than to attempt to change opinion through senseless & fruitless degradation via name-calling. You may cause the other individual to cease the discussion, but, they will normally continue to think in a pttern different to your own. Most times....you get a big ass fight & nothing else. Whoopee!!! That was worth the effort. You were correct in your inital assessment. hes should have just explained why he had an alternate view of the D/s relationship, and left it at that.....potentially creating alteration of the point of view of the other gentleman. Now, both are entrenched and nothing good comes from the interaction.

OMG: Why do you assume Doms can't be gentle? For that matter we can be calm, polite, and down-right cuddly. If you had your choice, wouldn't you want to submit to someone who offered kind words and pleasure rather than someone who was pushy or frenetic? The whole D/s circumstance is supposed to be about the giving and receiving of pleasure. Not even a so-called masochist would want to spend their time doing something they don't enjoy.
Lisa: Everyone has a degree of both dominant and submissive tendencies. Just like everyone has both masculine and feminine aspects. Those wonderful few who can change back and forth as necessary (similar to the term "androgynous") are called "Switches".
Borty: You are too right. Nothing, not even the title of "Master" allows you to behave like a subhuman butt-munch.
DarkDesires: Again, too true. The only things that do have power over us are the things we cannot change and the things we allow to have power over us.

Shame that guy turned out a jerk I actually agreed with his sentiment that a Master is a slave to his sub in many ways. A real master cares as much for pleasing his sub as a sub does for doing her masters bidding.

Apparently the Dom turned into a "not-a-dom" or "not-a-master" in my absence and left the site permanently.
I still stand by my remarks. One person cannot and has no right to any other persons submission without their permission. That is the only point I was trying to make. Even those into the lifestyle, and I'm not being critical of them at all, but they have the absolute right to quit whenever thay want which means they are giving permission to the Dominant one. The Dom has no right to take what is not given to them by the other. As mentioned it's about respect and respect goes both ways.
Put another way, from Kings and Queens, Dictators and Presidents, all govern with the consent of the governed.
