yes its that time of year once again when asking for a board game or a stretch armstrong seems so lost so distant. so here is my question and comment as well

My 12 year old gave me his list this year. 3 Xbox 360 games, Swords to add to his collection. ( they are non sharp) but they look really cool.and "gift cards" to get whatever. oh yea lets not forget that we must have the latest and greatest nerf gun around.!! ( I'll get two so I can play)

Talking to some of my friends it seems that xbox or some thing akin to it is the only thing on the kids list, Not trying to be funny but what about board games hell at 45 I still try to play Candy land with my niece.

What do you think is imaginaton losing too Microsoft ?

My oldest daughter who is 12 wants either the playstaion 3 or the nintendo wi...I am not into the video games but I know my husband and the boys would probally play them...I don't plan on spending that much money on a game though....We have been through so many games with them as it is...Several playstation 2, a game cube, and a few of the hand held games like nintendo ds and the game boys...Right now they still have the ds and psp so I figure why not just get games for those instead of a new console? We have 4 kids to buy for and that isn't cheap...Sheesh the oldest girl got a computer for her birthday anyway so it isn't like she is going to suffer for not getting a new game... The boys will be getting a PC also..It just seems the older they get the more expensive they get...

Also on my daughters list was a digital camera, i pod and a cell phone !! At least the boys asked for a train set, cars and The baby she is easy...Don't know but I think these game makers are making a killing in money...I know my mom said that her step kid's grandmother was in line for hours trying to get a nintendo wi..Forget that !!

Well, I have 3 grown sons and a daughter in law and they still want the game systems and video games. My son and daughter in law actually bought themselves a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and they play it every night. But, they say my granddaughter (22 mos) will never be allowed to play video games. Yeah right. I think the battle between board games and videos games is going to become a loss for the board games. No one wants to spend time together as a family anymore. It's a sad, sad world we live in.

Having raised 3 boys, let me tell you, there is no magical solution, only compromises......My boys have always had the latest and greatest systems and games....the compromise?...They are required to spend one day a week with me, doing the things I enjoy...Also, you might try giving them a budget when they make up their gift list....these things worked for me....good luck

At our house there is some balance, many winter weekend afternoons we play board games, but then just as easily it's Guitar Hero on the Xbox! I think the fact that we do it together counts more than what game we actually play.

We have a Nintedo Wii...I got it back in feb. I loved playing it. Now I don't play it much. My daughter's play's it still. The games for it are so expensive. She did get one new game for it for Christmas. We get together with friends sometimes and play Pictionary. My daughter is good at that game..I suck. I can't draw a stick person.
I bought many board games for my daughter through the years and she loses all the peices so I quit.
