I was running some errands the other day and just kept switching the radio station in my car. The DJ's were just determinded to put me to sleep, I think. And I didn't have a cd with me that I wanted to listen to either.

Ever have one of those days where you just can't find that song that you're hoping they will play, but have no idea what it is? Okay, maybe I'm just weird.... I love music, just about any genre. Depends on my mood. I listen to music when I'm in a good mood, a bad mood, when I'm bored, when I need to just unwind or when I need to get motivated.

Anyway, as I'm driving this song comes on that I haven't heard in like forever. Next thing I knew I was smiling and my mind was completely somewhere else. To a place in time where everything seemed perfect.

Do you have those songs that when you hear them they just take you to another time in your life? You remember a certain day like it was yesterday that you had stored way back in your memory banks. Or a song that automatically makes you think of someone that may no longer be in your life but makes you smile and gives you a warm memory of them?
What song or songs do that for you?

Isn't it amazing how music can be so universal?

This related I suppose. I have noticed that overall, women have much wider musical tastes than men.

I am narrow on it and always have been. Growing up from being in elementary school, if it did not feature an electric guitar, I ain't interested.

It remains largely that way today based around classic rock and blues.

Let me also add that my musical world is one I have constructed. I have about a 150 CDs that I listen to extensively to the point that the radio is only used for traffic reports in the car.

My classic rock base remains viable as four of top attended tours, led by Genesis, are from that genre (the other is Hannah Montana). Last Monday, Led Zeppelin reunited for a one off (usually a trial balloon for a tour) in the UK. Tickets were available online and 11 million people signed up to get tickets for the single show at a venue holding 20,000.

I love music and there are a lot of songs that bring back good memories......one of my favorites song reminds me of my friendship with you Treas........

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Great Blog!!

I too love music and listen to all types, it just depends on my mood at the time or the task at hand. Lately I've had the Christmas music going constantly in my office, trying to get myself more in the holiday mood! I still have many of my old albums, several boxes of 8 tracks, over 500 cassettes and now over 200 cd's plus all the music stored on my pc! But looking out at the snow falling this morning it's a Kenny Chesney, No Shoes, No Shirt, No problems kind of day! It's gotta be warmer in Mexico than here! Good blog Treas!

My music has always been rocknroll and the blues...it brings me back to the days of outdoor rock concerts...always had a crush on Janis Joplin.

Ok CL, I have 2 favorites that really put me into another time - All you aging Hippies will remember the first one, and the second is the Live from Atlanta version:

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Free Bird by Skynard

Well LBS, I reside in Dallas. While I did not move to Mexico, Mexico did move to me :/

It is almost 11:30, overcast, windy, 42 degrees with the wind chill factor driving it down to feeling like 31. To hell with a cold beer, I am having brandy.

Growing up in St. Louis as I did I was raised on R & B, Motown, Jazz, blues, rock-n-roll and because of my parents influence, Big Band and the standards. In our house it was "can you dance to it" Only after this "city girl married her country boy" did I learn to enjoy CW and it's lyrics.

Now my life is FILLED with music and I can't imagine my life without it. There is music to fit every mood and when I can't decide which mood I am in, I fill the CD Changer with everything from Stevie Ray to the Platters to Van Morrison to Andrea Bocelli to Eric Clapton and let the mood find me.
