Yeah I'm sure that judge is very educated about the environment...besides, with the way judges behave these days..(beyond arrogant), I wouldn't put much faith in their thoughts.

I'm sure there are some errors and exaggerations in the movie...I haven't actually seen the movie. There is no doubt in my mind that the overpopulation and use of fossil fuels has affected the climate. We have also changed the surface of the earth....deforestation, paving, strip mining, huge cities everywhere.
The use of fossil fuels is increasing and will continue until alternative fuels are more cost effective and more environmentally friendly.
But whatever we do is going to be too little and too late to make much of a difference in stopping global warming. It really is not going to be such a catastrophy for most people. Yes the polar bears will only be able to live in zoos and countless plants and animals will become extinct. People will have to gradually move away from the coast as the water rises, but it will be such a gradual process over a long time, 50 years, perhaps hundreds of years.

The climate has changed before, ice ages and warm periods, and it will change again. We probably have some effect on it but maybe we are preventing another Ice age from coming. That would a good thing.

When the earth's overall temperature average drops a few measly degrees, more polar ice melts. More ocean means more reflection of the sun's rays into space, and less absorption to heat the earth. Colder, longer winters.

But I do agree; here in Michigan, we wish we could see some of the more pleasant effects of global warming...DAMN! It's freakin' COLD today!

If I may..I don't claim to know as much about politics and who said what, but it really doesn't have any business being damn-near 80 degrees today.Refute and deny most may,but somethings going on.Its mid-December for God's sake.

One thing to remember is that the business of science is not always perfectly aligned to the ideal of seeking truth. Scientists, like anybody else, need funding to advance in their careers. Research universities place a lot of importance on the ability of professors to secure funding from agencies such as the National Science Foundation; assistant professors who are striving to get tenure keenly understand this important metric. Research papers submitted for publication in journals and conferences are generally peer-reviewed. Taken altogether this means that papers and research get skewed in the direction of wherever that next big grant is coming from. If most of your peers currently believe in theory A and you have the balls argue for theory B, most likely you will encounter a good deal of resistance in terms of funding and in terms of your papers being publishable. Nowadays people think Albert Einstein is a fucking genius but most are not aware that even he encountered a great deal of resistance to his theories of relativity. And much of that resistance was based not on scientific arguments but rather on many scientists' fears that all the knowledge they had acquired over the years would become obsolete, that they themselves would hence become obsolete. Some even brought race into the mix, decrying the so-called Jewish physics. Imagine that kind of bigotry for a scientist. So academia and science is not at all as objective as people think it is. It is always wise to question and look deeper even at the purveyors of science and their motivations.

Hmm ... I will probably put this in my own blog as well.

Stellar points Ben.

I wonder if instead of Al Gore, the movie was done by Joe Schmo, the right wing would be so attacking. After all, it seems that if you are not a conservative, you must be a liberal. Kind of leave the moderate majority out IMHO.
