12 1/2 YEARS with my bi-polar ex . He'd be fine on the meds but, there was always some side effect he didn't like or he'd say he was "cured". The mood swings were hellacious and he'd lie like a rug!!! I hear ya...you have my sympathy.

my ex was bipolar type II - extreme manic followed by extreme listlessness - would self medicate (weed and booze) when meds ran out or just decided that he didnt want to take them anymore. 2-1/2 years of hell before enough was enough

Bipolars are absolutely the most difficult to treat and deal with. They either think they are better and don't need their meds and stop them....or they think they are having side effects from the meds and stop them. In reality, we have found that most like the high highs they experience OFF their drugs and it's worth the low lows. It's a sad lifetime of frustration and never knowing who is coming in the door with them. I had a B/F who was BiPolar and rapid cycler...he wore me slam OUT of his life. Now, one of the first questions I ask before I even date someone is, ARE YOU BIPOLAR?

My ex wife was diagnosed Bi-Polar...After I had divorced her though in 1999.. She was on paxill and other meds through the years, but she always stopped using them and back to the nut case person I had know for 17 years.. She ruined her entire life, lost everything, even her own family will not have anything to do with her..
If the person in question is not on meds then they will continue to drive you batty with the extreme mood swings..At times it can be extremely dangerous especially if they drink, smoke pot or do chemicals like crack etc.
There are people who are Bi-Polar and do not know it or are in denial of it..
It was the main reason for my filling divorce from my ex wife although at the time neither of us knew it..She was abusive to my kids and I had custody. She was a problem in every way imaginable..And No I would not consider going back to her then nor now.
I am not sure but I think it is inherited from one or both parents, usually affects the female gender more than the male gender..
Bi-Polar chicks only rock if they are on meds by the way..

Yea every story sounds so familiar n scary. I loved my bipolar chick so much but I couldn't take it anymore, she never wouldn't take her meds when she was supposed too n she would spend money so fast on things 2 make her happy that she would never pay her bills ( is this familiar 2 anyone?) her car got repoed n her credit was so bad that she couldn't even get a bank account. My bipolar chick, I miss her but getting screamed at for things that made no sence 2 anyone, just wore me down n I had 2 go.

Very familiar...too familiar, in fact! Been there; done that.
He also figured that if he was gonna go down, he wasn't going alone.
His credit was like your ex's and he affected mine, as well
