Yesterday we hopped in the car and drove almost 4 hours to visit the one person who has known me longer than anyone except family...PrincessKissy! Her dad has a beautiful place nestled in the mountains of western N. Carolina, and she and G were there with her family for Thanksgiving. So, since it was too long of a drive for her to come visit us, and I really wanted to see her one last time before she makes the trip across the right pond...Canu readily agreed to make the trip. (See why I love him so much??)
The drive out was breathtaking, the scenery was just awesome...but it didn't compare to the view Kissy's dad has from his back porch.
We had a nice visit...it was fun seeing her sister and brother-in-law after 10 or so years...and always fun seeing their faces when they get a look at the wildchild. Of course seeing her dad was great...both her parents where like family to me growing up, as mine were to her.
We got to see all Kissy's pretty (and expensive!!) presents...a beautiful engagement ring and wedding band...pendants and other cool stuff that her man bought for her...whatta guy!
Canu got to grill G regarding the health-care system...well, G was more than willing to volunteer information about that and other things (a T.V. tax??) And we helped them get rid of some of their Turkey Day leftovers (Kissy made an awesome broccoli salad with lots of good stuff in it...I think her brother-in-law wanted to throttle me for not leaving him any!) And they had a decadent pumpkin cheesecake with pecans...yummy!
The weather was a little nippy...and we had to go outside to smoke (Kissy's dad still smokes...he figures he already gave up sex and that's enough!) Poor Canu just about froze his cute little butt off...but he didn't complain.
He did, however, have an issue with Kissy's driving skills. Remember, this is a man who drives a truck all day...and trains others to drive the same trucks. But he was white knuckled in the back of the mini-van while we were driving down the winding roads into town. Ah well...we survived, and got some really cool pics while we were out! All in all it was a wonderful visit, albeit much too short. Canu had been up all night working the night before, and I didn't want him driving too late on too little sleep.
So, today we'll probably veg out and watch football...it's a little too cold to go riding, and I'm pretty exhausted anyway. I may continue putting up Christmas stuff and getting the house ready for our first Christmas together.
