I recieved an e-mail from my sister the other day. It was about sending christmas cards to the military . My other sister told me that she had received the same thing from another friend. The priest at her church said he had heard others had received the same e-mail and was told not to send any. He said if the cards do not have specific names then the government will not pass them out. What a shame

That is not true! Our church sent cards last year with no specific names on them. We did receive over 30 thank you notes and emails from men and women in Iraq and Afganistan. I encourage you to send them!

Walter Reed Army Medical Center officials WILL NOT ACCEPT mail that includes packages, letters, and holiday cards addressed to "Any Wounded Soldier" or "A Recovering American Soldier." This decision was made to ensure the safety and well being of patients and staff at medical centers throughout the Department of Defense. In addition, the U.S. Postal Service is no longer accepting "Any Service Member" or "A Recovering American Soldier" letters or packages. Mail to "Any Service Member" that is deposited into a collection box will not be delivered.
You can send unsealed cards, letters or gifts to the address below and they will deliver them when they make their normal visits to the Hospitals.

You can also check out AnySoldier for names and addresses of deployed soldiers who'd like to get mail. By personally addressing your card you can be sure it will go through.

I still have all the cards sent to us in Gulf One from a group of 3rd graders from Blue Springs, Mo. It was something small that touched even the Hardest Marine there. Send away and put a way to get back in touch with you, we sent thank yous out to the ones who did. Semper Fi.
