Today is the second tuesday in November which is general election day across the USA. Some places are electing mayors, governors, etc.... while others have no offices up for election at this time. BUT..... in one year we will elect a new President.

I'm not here to lobby for one party or one candidate. I am here to lobby against apathy. I'm sure there are many who do not know, or do not care what apathy is....

Ok seriously..... voter turnout seems to get smaller and smaller each year. Too many people believe their vote does not count. And, if they don't vote, they are exactly right. Your vote only counts IF you use it. Not happy with someone in office? Vote against them. Like what one particular candidate has to say? Support them.

IF someone posts a blog on illegal immigrants, the war, welfare.... take your pick.... it generates a lot of heated comments. People care. Until election day and then they can't be bothered to drive a few minutes out of their way to cast their ballot. Assuming they are even registered.

There are many countries around the world where people have NO choice in who runs their country. To speak out means death! Some emerging countries started having elections over the past 20 years and you will read where people will WALK dozens of miles or more to cast that precious vote. They know that if THEY don't decide who they want, someone else will decide for them.

Be aware, be informed..... be a voter.

Very well said Slohand. I feel if I don't vote I shouldn't complain about what happens. I for one don't believe the votes are counted. they are sample counted. But just is case I want a chance to get into the sample count. We do take several things for granite in our great country the others are dieing to get for their's. We are truly a blessed country and I hope we stay that way. A Kudo for you.

I can honestly say that I can't recall ever missing the opportunity to vote since I was old enough to. I have parents that have pretty strong political feelings and complain when things are not to their liking (which is usually the opposite of mt political leanings). I love to ask them if they voted and the answer has always been no. My response? "You didn't vote? Shut up!" You don't bother to vote, you give up your right to complain.

One thing we need to do here in Michigan, is to boot our governor out of office if for no other reason than being the worst governor in our state that I can remember!

I agree L4e..... put up, or shut up. EXCEPT..... if TOO many "shut up" we'll end up being ruled by the "vocal minority".

We already are.

Voice your opinion at the polls or quit yer bitchin when someone you don't like gets elected.

If you give up the right to choose, you also give up the right to complain about the choice made on your behalf by those who showed up.

I passed up on the election this year because not only is it an off year on, nothing here going on that much on the ballot here in my city. Can't wait till next year though!
