Hey everyone I have been busy lately of sorts. I overheard a conversation with the Governor- Elect Bobby Jindal the other day; and he said he wanted to change the worlds opinion of La. government. GOOD LUCK Bobby!

Although Bobby Jindal I feel is a good man changing something in four years that took decades to form is not going to be an easy task. Going back to the 1930's our first famous politician Gov. Huey Long "The Kingfish" who was for the little guy; and had the motto "Every man a king." was very popular. In fact so popular and so powerful that when he announced he was running for president he was shot in the state capital building. Now ole Huey knew they was trying to kill him he just didn't know who "they" really was. He was transported to New Orleans where a veternarian operated on him; and he later died from that operation. Now them "Good Ole Boys." they was a wiping the sweat from their brow. If Huey had survived that attempt there would be hell to pay for that is just how the "Kingfish" was. Now yrs. go by and Earl Long ( Huey little brother) was elected governor;and though they may have came from the same loins. They definetly was not cut from the same cloth. Earl had a penchant for two vices drinking and women. He fell in love with a stripper from New Orleans and the rest is history; or at least a movie "Blaze" Earl was later institutionalized and today we have a state hospital named after him... go figure.

That brings me to my favorite La. governor Edwin W. Edwards or as his bumper stickers usde to read "EWE" for governor ( sorry dayna no pun intended). Old Fast Eddie as he is affectionately known in our state was my type of politician.

Yes he was corrupt as the days are hot here in La., but he never tried to hide it. Like John Gotti it took several attempts by the feds to finally get him a new home complete with blue jumpsuits. One time when they were trying to get him ( the first attempt). He was asked by the media if it was true "He had been riding the gravy train here in La.?" With that smile of his he replied " HELL no, it's not true I have been driving the sonofabitch." I love his candor. Eddie did a lot of good for the state and himself...guess thats why he's in the federal pen. I can respect his honesty if nothing else.
Which brings me to the current mayor of New Orleans Ray "Chocolate" Nagin. After a disaster that devastated the 'Big Easy" this fool got on national T.V. and said " At the end of the day New Orleans would once again be a Chocolate New Orleans." Which goes to prove that you should never make a comment after hitting a crack pipe. Can you believe the people of New Orleans re-elected him. I guess they must been smoking crack too.
Now the current District Attorney of New Orleans Eddie Jordan who BTW is facing a discimination lawsuit for firing all the white people in his office and replacing them with black people. Well it seems Eddie Jordan is in the news again this time for allowing a friend of his fiance' s to hide out at his house while the police were looking for him. Forrest Gump said it best " Stupid is as stupid does." and Eddie you are just plain stupid. At least Ray Nagin has put down his crackpipe long enough to say that he can't help poor eddie out this time.

So Bobby good luck in cleaning up the opinion everyone has of our poor crooked state. You have a hard job ahead of you my friend. One thing is for sure .... He can't hurt it any.
As they say here in La. " La bon temp roulet" or as you know it "Let The Good Times Roll."..... Huey Long is probably laughing from his grave

Had ANY other mayor of ANY other city made the statement..... I'm going to rebuild a white city...... There would have been calls to immediately resign, protest rallys, marches....... the works.
Yep... there is NO double standard in this country...

And 'ol Nagin & Marion Barry belong in the hall of fame (shame?) for sure.

Good blog, but damn I hate politics! I never realized how much I did until I went to work for an elected official.........election years make me want to hide under a rock until it's all over and done!
