It got a little scarey last night for a while with Khyler. They can not keep him asleep. He keeps waking up about every hour, crying and trying to move and actually talking with the tube in his throat and all the machines hooked up. He should not be able to talk at all, but he is a strong willed little guy. His blood pressure bottomed out quite a few times due to the sedative they use to make him sleep. He heart rate went dangerously low 3 times but is very close to normal today.
Today he is doing better. He may get some of his tubes out tomorrow, if he continues to do this well. But will be in ICU for a few more days. The fluid coming through the tubes is all running clear, and that's Great news. He has one good lung and one that collapses all the time and is too weak to function. But the good one is holding up well. That was a major concern. The doctor said if he made it through the night, he was pretty much in the clear. He fought hard, but he made it. Thank God!!!
The surgeons said that instead of his spine being twisted 90%, it is now 60% twisted. Hopefully that will still correct itself a little more in time with the growing rod. But the 30% will make a vast improvement for his breathing. His lungs were being crushed and not much room for them to expand.
When he is fully awake and able to talk --if history repeats itself-- I will get a phone call. He will tell me to take care of his baby sister. He is extrememly protective of her. Except for when he is fighting with her, that is......lol He has a new baby sister or brother due end of March. He's loving that idea.
I have talked to his Mommy 4 times today. I read her the responses and emails from everyone on this site. She said to Thank Everyone SO Very much for your prayers, thoughts and well wishes. They are greatly appreciated and evidently listened to. Thank you, All.......
