Coupons? Hell yes. Granted the esteemed restuarants are not handing them out but for the average eatery, by all means take advantage of them. Now I don't think I would use them on a first date but after you know someone why not.
And yes, I take advantage of the "senior" discounts every chance I get !

Yeah, but when ya really think about it, should someone really tip considering the place is a buffet and you end up having to go and get your own food everytime? Makes ya think why you're tipping.

Makes ya think why you're tipping Even with buffets, they usually are coming around, picking up your used plates, refilling your drinks (tho some places you have to do that too). I still leave a few bucks for them doing that. But i worked years as a waitress so I probably tip better than a lot of people, I am also probably more picky on how well the service is too!!

Most of the time they have a waitress that does okay. Only had maybe two that really did a good job. Also had a one or two that were very rude. About three weeks ago we had this waitress named Heather who just looked so rude to where you can see it all over her face. We tried not to make matters worse considering we didn't want her to spit in our drinks.

I personally don't see anything wrong with using a coupon on the first date or the fifth date. But tipping? That should always be done.. based on what the bill would have been had there been no coupon savings. And yeah, I tip even in buffet style restaurants. Why? Those people are busting their butts clearing tons of dishes, sometimes bringing drinks or whatever.. I don't tip them 20% like I would at a full service restaurant, but I do tip them.

Once you are dating and have been out a few times, it is fine IMHO. They have this Enterainment Book for major metro areas that you can buy for $29.95 that has 50 percent off on hundreds of places, mostly restaurants (from four stars to Mickey D's) but also movie theaters, zoos, pool parlors, etc.
I have used that book and other coupons a lot and no date ever objected. Most of the time the check is split or we alternate, so it saves them money also. I have also had dates bring coupons too.
You are supposed to tip based upon what the regular price would be, usually 15 to 20 percent. It doesn't happen often, but if I get terrible service or the wait staff is rude, they get a penny. That way the message is clear and they don't write you off as a cheeser.

Also, would you tip after you're done?
I was a waitress off and on for 24 years. I worked in a coffee shop where the tips were not great. I worked for a restraunt that the food was expensive and what a lot of people don't understand is that is how I paid my bills, from tips. In the state of Ohio the min wage for server's is now $3.27 a hour. So you have to rely on tips to make it. As for the Golden Correll, I do tip there. Except for one time, I was with my daughter and her friend. We didn't have a server come around ask us if we needed plates, drinks, or anything. I found a manager and told her. As our server was talking at a table with a couple she knew. And yet after the manager talked to her did she come to our table. NO Now she didn't get a tip. She didn't do anything.
A friend took my daughter to eat at the Golden Correll on Friday night. The server we had that night drove us nuts, asking if we needed anything. He was always at our table. He did get a tip but that was going overboard.
I say that servers should be paid min wage. Tips are earned for the job that you did.
I did have some McDonalds coupons but I think they expired. I have Burger King. I don't eat there.

not cheap coupons are a good deal..
and yes you must tip.. Servers are paid only about 2.13 and hour so your tip is crucial.. I hate it when my daughter has pulled a long shift and the ppl were cheap... I also hate it when she has to pay her bills and cannot because no one thought that tipping was essential.. I then have to help her out.. So in essence I am fucking paying for your fun and had none myself..

Definately tip the waitress, especially on a date. I look to how my date treats the waitress/waiter as an insite to there personality. I don't have a problem using a coupon no matter what date it is, as long as they tip.

Following up on the comment by alybai42, I have FINALLY taken a thought and put it into action a few years ago on tipping. Specifically, tipping is based upon a percentage of the check traditionally.
Is it fair, at say 15 percent, that the server at Denny's gets three bucks for service identical to an upscale steakhouse server getting ten dollars?
I go to Chinese buffet weekly, occasionally by myself, on Friday or Saturday because I can eat all of crab legs, shrimp, and oysters I want for $8.99. I always get tremendous service and tip a minimum of ten dollars. The wait staff adores me for some unknown reason.
Lastly on the coupons, and the Entertainment Book, if it wasn't for that, we eould not get to go to many places as we could not afford it and get to go out twice as often. Disposable income is finite, the budget is certainly not unlimited. Everyone I have ever dated fully understands this as they pay bills and observe a budget also.

When I go to dinner with a guy I always offer to pay my share of the bill. It's only fair. If he says no, then I don't push the issue. But if he wanted to use a coupon, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. I know money is ALWAYS an object for me....not that I'm a gold digger, but being a single mom means that I'm always living from paycheck to paycheck, so I really have to watch my money. If I was treating and had a coupon, I'd definitely use it! As usual, Straddle, very interesting Blog!

I personally wouldn't have a problem with it. As you stated... it is more about the company, and what kind of time that you had at dinner. But, I can say that I know plenty of woman that it would offend....

Why dontcha just invite her to meet ya at the wal mart parking lot for tooth paste and crackers!ha! Just kidding,If money is tight, maybe you sneak over to your waitress when you excuse yourself for the mens room and ask her if you can slip it by and keep quiet about it.If it mens the difference of bringing her somewhere nicer and you really like her,I say,why not, your young, cant expect to be making the big bucks yet but you still want to impress her like you do because you really like her.Go for it...ummm.but if you get caught...dont say I advised it.But watch out,,her girlfriend might be the waitress!Ha!

I use the coupon but I tip as though I paid full fare. I generally suggest a number of places for lunch or dinner and my date would either offer a coupon, which I take no offense to. In fact, I appreciate it because it means she's being considerate of me as well. What generally helps most is having an idea of restaurant prices before going. Anyway, that's my 50% of 2 cents worth. LOL
