As some of you know I haven't been feeling to well of late therefore I haven't kept up AMD-AM the way I had wanted to. I still won't be posting with any regularity but I will slip in under the radar every now and then with "specials" so to speak.
I have a special reason for posting this tune at this particular time that will only be apparent to a select few, however be that as it may I do hope it touches a lot of you that go back to those days. So here is Blind Faith a band formed in late 1968 when Eric Clapton (ex-Cream) and Steve Winwood (ex-Traffic) were at a loose end following the demise of their former bands and began to spend time together again (they had previously collaborated on a record as "Powerhouse"), jamming and working on new material at Clapton's house in Surrey. At Winwood's instigation, Cream's former drummer Ginger Baker was invited along, and they subsequently spent some time recording in the studio. Rick Grech, bassist with Family was invited to join them (he left Family, mid-tour). Record producer Jimmy Miller came in to bring some focus to the recording of further material.
News of the formation of the group created a buzz of excitement among the public, and a free concert was scheduled for London's Hyde Park on June 7, 1969. Their small repertoire was reported by the music press as having disappointed the crowd of 100,000 who were also expecting to hear songs from the days of "Cream" and "Traffic". The recording of their album continued; followed by a short tour of Scandinavia, then a US tour from July 11 (Newport) to August 24 (Hawaii), supported by "Free" and "Delaney and Bonnie" & Friends.

Blind Faith

“Can’t Find My Way Home”

Composer: Steve Winwood

Come down off your throne and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I’ve been waiting so long.
Somebody holds the key.

But I’m near the end and I just ain’t got the time
And I’m wasted and I cant find my way home.

Come down on your own and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I’ve been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.

But I’m near the end and I just ain’t got the time
And I’m wasted and I cant find my way home.

But I can’t find my way home.

But I can’t find my way home.

But I can’t find my way home.

But I can’t find my way home.

Still I can’t find my way home,

And I ain’t done nothing wrong,

But I can’t find my way home.

Unfortunately there are no videos of Blind Faith performing this tune however there is this video of Eric Clapton and Mark Knophler (Dire Straits) performing it.

An amazing song! I think of Blind Faith as one of the first "Super groups". I've always liked this song very much. It takes me back to my wayward youth...

I've been reading Nick Mason's Inside Out, and this is just an odd tidbit from the book about the cover of the album. "Mick [Milligan] created the sleek chrome aeroplane..." (p. 63). I don't own the album, so wouldn't know if it's in the liner notes or not. Get well soon.
