To err is human, to forgive, divine. Well, i'm pretty f^ck&n human, then. I've made enough mistakes in my life, enough errors in judgement, that a lesser God than ours might have been overwhelmed. Certainly overworked. But that's just it; I'm human.

We make mistakes. We realize we have done so, and we ask for forgiveness. Unless you're LiLo, or Brittney, Or the worst one of all, apparently, Bill Clinton, that's about all there is to it. Make a mistake, admit it, repent.

There doesn't seem to be a computable shelf life on Big Bill's trangressions. I noticed in comments to a 911 blog on the other site that he's the one that didn't kill bIN lADEN B 4 he could bomb the world trade centers. Apparently it was on his to do list one day, but Monica talked him into a blow job. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.

And i also noticed some guy(who doesn't seem to be having much fun) was blaming good ole Jane Fonda for us losing that police action in Vietnam?? Most of his material/evidence was a little dated. Another portion of those facts have been proven not to be true. But in the great Rupert Murdoch tradition of not letting the facts get in the way of a story, this guy copied and pasted an 8 year old article into a blog to show why Jane Turner Fonda shouldn't be considered one of the top 100 women. For speaking her mind. As is her right as a cvitizen. Which is really what all these wars are about; preserving the great American way of life.

But hey; This IS a fuck blog dating site, so why wouldn't you waste your time on ancient injustices?? Beats admitting to the cyber world that your life is so flucking dull, even your complaints are 8 years old.

Wow you guys hate that twat as much as we do, I love America! It's not just the good old US way of life either as we Brits have our share of dickwads that try and piss on our way of life too.

The blog was longer than a double roll of Cottonell too! I give Jane credit for leaving Ted Turner after finding out about his elitist ties to "Global" you name it.

Good blog - kudos.

Your right, Turk, We are human and we make mistakes. Hopefully, they are ones that can be forgiven, either by the injured party, or if not, ourselves for being human.

As for the Jane Fonda story, I believe that is even older than 8 yrs, I have heard that for many years in different context. Although, if it had been proven true, which it hadn't, I think it would be necessary to make a statement about it if nothing else to remind us of history so it doesn't repeat itself.

But her speaking out about the vietnam war (and sorry although it was referred to as a police action, in my humble opinion, when soldiers die, its a war) is her right as an American. Its just like burning the flag, I don't believe in it, I don't want to see it, but if we are going to stand for freedom, than we need to stand for the right to fly the symbol of freedom--the American flag.

In my opinion, forgiveness and repentance go hand-in-hand. She apologized for exactly one thing: posing for a photo on an NVA anti-aircraft gun. She categorically stated she was not apologetic for any other anti-war action. One of those actions she did not apologize for was accusing POWs of make-believe and lying about their torture in Vietnam.

As for the right to free speech, I agree. But then, she wasn't prosecuted for her opinions on the war. So free speech wasn't even an issue. However, in the same way, most of the people who spoke out against her actions/beliefs and continue to do so, were/are also similarly exercising their right to free speech. The right to free speech is not the issue here, it is how one affects others through their exercise of it that is under scrutiny. It is my opinion that Fonda exercised hers to the detriment and hurt of many of our brave soldiers.

Yes it is human to err and divine to forgive, but let's not forget that proper repentance needs to be considered as well. In Fonda's case, several factors led more than a few people to still believe she wasn't really contrite overall about her actions. One factor is the severely limited nature of her apologies (two of them) as explained above. Another is the belated nature of her first apology. Yet another is the timing of those apologies, coincident with releases of two of her major films. Many celebrities these days apologize for this that and the other, but in many cases it is unclear whether it is just PR damage control or real sorrow.

bentan, Something you wrote just struck me funny.

"accusing POWs of make-believe and lying about their torture in Vietnam."

I was to young to realize all that went on then, And I never knew that. But, for the past few years, I've been wondering to my self about John McCain. I served in the military during peacetime and I thank for the fact I was never a POW. But I know if I had been tortured and made through, I never could have turned my back on this Country. It would have made me appreciate it even more.

John McCain is one of the architects of that amnesty bill they keep throwing back to a vote as soon as they think we're not looking. That's because it's part of a bigger plan, A north American union with Canada & Mexico. In my opinion, It's treason to be a part of that. How can this man (McCain) be a POW of the United States of America?

There is now officially entirely too much politics on this site. As a casual topic of discussion it's ok but Lickrick and some others have decided that this shall be their forum to start some sort of grass roots movement. They are never late to point out their white hats. I think it's no coincidence that we are approaching an election year. Political activism works but I still contend that this is not the place. It's all mindless pointed speech full of buzz words and sensationalism to get your blood pressure up. I don't support an opposing opinion y'all just don't get it. I support a crack smokers free zone where creativity, even satire (even political) can roam. But the amount of complaining and cut and paste flier hawking is at a completely intolerable level. Turn this place into something else why don't ya. Apparently it was broken before and I was having too much fun to notice.
