believe in hexes, spells of any sort, good luck charms.bad luck ie...... black cats crossing in front of your car..........Someone told me the other day they put someones clothing and a lock of his hair in the freezer to keep him away from her....... I know I do believe in some of it , in others I think its just karma....I like the tarot cards, palm reading and such ........... bout to have one done for me to have peace and prosperity .......... which for someone like me that could mean 20 minutes in peace reading a book , and a winner scratch off ....
What do yall think ?

Sorry Maggie, I don't really believe in alot of those things - omens, charms, Triskaidekaphobia (fear of 13). However it is prevalent in our society, i.e. no 13th floor in buildings.

However it is prevalent in our society, i.e. no 13th floor in buildings. I think it's funny that people actually believe that by skipping the number 13 it doesn't exist! How stupid and ignorant is that? A building with 14 floors that you can see and count - say, by the number of windows (veridically "stacked:") that you can from the outside - still has a 13th floor no matter what it's been labeled. That's simple logic, yet superstition often prevails over that which is fact.
I have a black cat and he walks in front of me all the time. I have no problem with that, except when he doesn't walk fast enough and I trip over his stupid ass.
I think there is a difference between superstitions and Karma. Superstitions are formed around fears - many of which are irrational (to me) - whereas Karma is based on faith and "cosmic energy" - for me, a spiritual-religious thing. I am not very superstitious but I am huge on Karma.

I believe it's bad luck to send "Wanna F**K" emails to women, you really wanna f**k because if you do - they won't. Just my opinion. I believe it is bad luck for a football team, baseball team, and basketball team to be behind in the score at the end of the game, but it is not bad luck for a golf team or cross country team.

I'm not superstitious, but a lot of the old wife's tales are rooted in common sense. By the way, I know of an awsome Vietnamese curse that I dare not utter here.

I can't take any of that superstitious stuff seriously. It's just amazing to me what people actually still believe in. Karma, I don't know but what goes around comes around......usually.

I don't but they are interesting and like BuddhaDon says some are rooted in common sense, and others as Noms say are rooted in fears. More generally, most beliefs of any kind are nothing more than Man's attempt to make sense of the known universe. I consider the Zodiac, karma and such to be examples of such human organization. All of them make for interesting insights into how humans both past and present make sense of their surroundings.
