What did we come for? And why the fluck are we still here?? What's here for any of us, really? We come to this site thinking this is the hookup capitol of the world, maybe the universe. When i was young, a phrase that has different meaning to each of us, cuz the world's not only "uh changin", but changing at a geometric rate. Life isn't just getting faster paced, it's to the power of ten.

You get here and you think it's gonna be gravy. My first few nights on this site, i wasn't sure what to expect. But i damn well thought when i clicked Who's online, i was looking at a list of people who wanted to hook up, right then and there. Being inclined in either direction, the first person that popped into my in-box was an older gentleman, with a hairy penis, instead of a face. And i realized, this wasn't what i was looking for.
So i refined my search, decided i'd concentrate on the ladies on the sight, cuz they usually look better, and always smell better. I saw a nice looking woman, and wrote her a sweet e mail, after having read her profile, in which she indicated one night stand as an option. It rather quickly became apparent that was not to be the case, certainly not with me. No big deal, plenty of fish in the sea. No plug intended.
The next woman i came in contact with, had a profile with a laundry list of do's & don'ts. I'm this and that; I hate this and that. Don't come near me without ......Y'all know what i mean. In a black & white world, you'd come to a hookup place, and find a hookup. In a literal setting, where fuck means fuck, sex might actually be had. But this ain't black & white, it's nothing but shades of grey; just like the real world.
Of course, now you ask, why do we bring the real world indoors, and put it on the internet?? The real world messes with a good time. It sure does, don't it?? It seems guys are capable of having sex, without major attachment. And yes, yes, it's not all guys, But most. Or at least most of the guys who are on this site nightly, looking for whatever it is they're missing in their present arrangements. How else to explain the married guys who populate the "singles" scene??
And then there are the women. The lovely women. It's so hard for them, cuz they want most everything the horniest of guys want. Hot, passionate sex; Rock hard equiptment, variety of positions. They just want a bit more. Honesty; Fidelity; (anyone remember that one? Or do you all think it's an insurance company?) Someone they can trust & rely on. See apparently woman need love, or at least the thought of love. No matter what site you find them on, they're gonna be the same. They don't wanna fuck ya', if they can't trust ya'. Which, one would think, would tend to cancel out the one night stands, and The Holy Grail of Sex, for men; The Hookup.
So i think the answer is "No, you don't have to lower your standards. What good is having standards, if you're gonna be able to adjust them to fit the situation?" The situation is, that we're two species, from other worlds, it seems. But through some bizarre twist, some ecumenical sense of humor, we're here on this same rock. You can make friends here, you can get lucky here. Maybe even lucky enough to find a friend to have sex with. But chances are, the best you can do, is what you been doing.

Kudos to you!! And you know you have so many valid points. Are women ever interested in the "hook up"? Once upon a time, hell yeah! I remember the good old days when you could have one night stands or hook ups and not worry about dying from some freaky killer disease or some freaky killer. But then also we get a little older, most of us have had that loving/sexual relationship. You know which one I'm talking about! The one that taught you that while one night stand sex can be good and Hook up sex can be great. The best sex in the world is when you actually know the person and have some feelings for them. You've taken the time to learn what pleases them, what makes them feel good, and they know you as well! Suddenly one night stands and hook up sex just doesn't hold the same appeal it used to. So you search until you find someone that is willing to get to know you longer a few minutes before you hop into bed in some cheap motel. Cos when you find that someone, the sex is just that much sweeter!

I do tend to agree with Ash.
I thought I had found what I was looking for...I thought wrong!!
But IF I ever decide to look again, I will not adjust my standards. I beleive in compromise, but I won't settle.
