It had been a hot and long day of work that day. My body ached from movements that weren't normal for a human body. But the day was done and the time for a breath and calming thoughts has come. I knew what I wanted before I entered. I grasped the door and flung it open, as any man would do. I could feel the coolness from inside already. As I transverse the threshold, if feels as if I were crossing the divide of two worlds. One hot and acrid the other cool and calm. I make my way toward the counter. I lean my sore body against the structure. Scan the room for someone that may provide me with the cool refreshing nectar that southern men cherish. That someone comes into view. A beauty of a woman. About 5' 2", long dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and a figure carved by a god. The same character that portrays the image of womanhood in my mind during the hours of sleep. Surely I'm not delusional from the heat. This can't be a woman of my dreamscapes. She approaches and asks," have you been helped?". I reply, with a slight stumble, "No. Can I have a glass of sweet tea?". She makes the declaration as if she'd been waiting for me all day, "of course Hun. Would you like a lemon?". "No, thank you." I respond. Her statements and questions barely register. I'm dumbfounded by how bright her eyes are while she smiles at me. Her face seems to glow like a star in the night. I felt my soul begin to weaken from her warm words. Walls of torment and misery fall from her assault. Could she know? That my defenses are eroding away. Will she take advantage of me? Surely she could not know that I'd hand her the world just for the asking.
She returns with my drink and tells me a price. I could not recall the amount, I was smitten by her image. The words drifted along a path of clouds, passed along by angels and placed upon my ears. That warm glowing smile and the eyes that smiled along with her face. Does she know? How could she know of my weakness for her? She turned and began talking to another customer seated at the counter. I made my escape and left without a word.
