I have decided to do something with my life (even at my age).

I went to a meeting to go back to school. It is through the vo-tech. The course is called "Medical Office Tech".
I have been busy filling out the paper work for financial aide. Since I am a single mom and only have a limited income I should get the whole program paid for. I can do it online.
I do need to get another computer that has windows xp on it. This one has window's vista. The meeting I went to said your computer has to have windows xp. I did get on the dell website and I can not run xp on this computer. I was going to take vista out and put xp in but that won't work.
I also need to buy a program called "Microsoft Office 2007" that is not cheap.

I always thought I was too old to go back to school. But you are never to old to learn. Making myself do it is another story. It has been 25 years since I was in high school . I took a short course about 16 years ago to be a Health Unit Clerk.

I have to take a pre-assement test on Aug 7th that I have to pass to get into this class

Filling out all this paper work is a pain in the butt.

I need to do something with my life. I can't find a job. At least with the medical field there are always jobs.

My goal when I am done with this course is to find me a doctor.

I will try to pop in once in a while to read blogs, post on the forum's.

Aly You know I'm proud of you but I saw where someone told you that your too old to go back to school, when I went back the first time, I was 28 I was considered a nontraditional student, because of my age, when I went back at 39 I was the traditional student because they found that alot more of people our age go back to school than the youngin's. as for two old my mother at 62 said she wanted to go to college but she was too old, my late husband told her, in the end they can take away everything you have but what you've learned, My mother got her degree when she was 65 yrs old. Your never to old to learn or want to improve your life.

Alybia, This is so awesome!!! I am so excited for you!!

And like everyone else said, age is just a number, your never too old to learn new things. When I went to college us younin's were the non-traditional ones and the adults returning for more school were the traditional ones. It was the knowledge of the older students that got me through some of my hardest semesters and projects.

Way to go!!

Good for you, young lady. No One is too old to learn; nothing is ever too late.

Bestest of Lucks!

YIPPEE!!! As I said on the phone IF they offer an internship make sure you do it!! I couldn't and it has hurt my chances of finding a job. But maybe you should also think of taking a class or two at the school?? I loved going to college made some great friends there...Talk to you over the weekend

An inspiration to me since I'll be "old" and "at THAT age" in 5 years. Sniffles. .... Don't stop doing til you're done, screw the ticking bomb of time.

Good for you Aly, but be careful. I went to one of those business schools, took the courses, graduated at the top of my class, and the first job interview they sent me on was to McDonalds. Come to find out my education wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Just be careful what you get for what you pay for it. Always make sure you're going to an accredited school and that your credits transfer to another if you want to change gears and try something else.

Best wishes and just wanted to add a third voice to Y and Blue's - make sure it's accredited e.g. by checking with HRD of prospective employers or just Googling the program to see what other people have to say about it. Believe me, if there is reason to, some disgruntled person will host an entire website dedicated to dissecting a school or program e.g. University of Phoenix.
