Wading in Shallow Water on AMD

I have a fear in going to the deep end of the pool. Sure, I can swim. Sure, I like the thrill of diving off the board. Sure, I like the rush of feeling of hitting the water at a high speed but...

I fear the deep end.

Either I swim frantically to get to the rail or I avoid the deep end altogether.

I prefer the shallow water because I can always put my feet down when I get a little too playful and cause myself to lose balance. No, I don't feel the rush of excitement that I would in the deep end but it is comforting to know that a easy access security blanket lies right beneath me.

My relationships on AMD have been a lot like my swimming habits. I like to think that I would like the rush of the unexpected. I would like to think that I could handle life without a security blanket of solid footing.

The reality is that I usually want to gravitate back to the shallow end - back to the solid footing - back to the comfort of a trusting foundation.

The question is - am I that shallow or do I like the ability to really go deep?

i for one like the analogy.....good one.... to YOUR far as I'M concernd...what makes you happy long as it doesn't hurt others is all good........plain n simple..

Damn, I could not have said it better myself! And it's kind of what I'm going thru right now...almost exactly in fact.

I can definitely relate to what you said. And yes, a very good analogy.

Perfectly explained!!! I think lots of us here feel the same as you!

......I'm on here for the fun.
.....I'm not looking for a deep relationship on here, so the shallow end of the pool sounds good to me.

.....I've had a couple of deep relationships, when you're with the right special one for you the deep water of life doesn't feel so scary. The two of you just naturally go there because you just know the two of you are ment to be together thru think and thin.

I think the middle of the pool is the most scary because you've got one foot in the shallow end and one foot in the deep end. It's the unknown the relationship could go either way.

Awesome Great Blog

I probably shouldn't comment on this blog, but as you can see i'm going to do it anyway. I think you like the idea of the deep end of the pool, but you're too scared to make the jump. You don't want to lose what you have (family, job, etc.) so you stay where it's comfortable. You like to play both sides against the middle too. Hedge your bets and see who comes through, we've all seen this before. That doesn't make you a bad person, it's just who you are. You also like to manipulate situations to avoid conflict, again doesn't make you a bad person, it's just who you are.

Yes, I do like that idea (of the deep end) but it isn't the jump that scares me, it is the wading in the deep end that is the issue.

About 5 feet of water is just about my most fun level.

Glad you could use your expertise to comment.

I think Hummy & Belle said exactly what I think....I can't add anything in addition. Great blog!!

I've been one to venture head first into the deep end (in my opinion, of course). I wouldn't say that I've regretted it. Sure, I've learned a few things and they have made me change my course of action some but I'm still one to jump right in. But, I'm pretty much done jumping now.

This blog can be interpreted a number of ways....

It relates to me in that I first came here with the intent of getting laid....for me, this is shallow water.....

Now that I have that end of the pool covered....I find myself being pulled deeper and deeper with each day....finding things I didnt know could be possible.....

I too am holding on to the side for dear afraid of being swept away.....only to drown.....

Yeah Nooner baybee.. you are just shallow

Nah really.. why the heck not be? You have your comfort zone and you aren't up for pushing the envelope right now. BFD.
