Arguments. Tiffs. Spats. Butting heads. We've all been there. But what, in the name of all that is holy, is there to be gained by open-air confrontation for internal discord?

Answer: nothing.

Seriously, folks, it's in poor taste, petty, and a little classless to have it out in front of everybody. For one thing, it dilutes an already cluttered blogspace which needs tending to; for another, the majority of this community aren't involved, don't need to be, and ought not to be.

But... what about vindication?

Petty.

I shall have my revenge.

Scary.

Needs to be taught a lesson... Needs to be made an example of.

Not like this.

The world needs to know I'm [a)sorry; b) mad; c) hurt; d) emotion not otherwise specified]

The hell it does. If you think about it, there's really never ANY need to make private disputes public. Warning the community about a menace to society is one thing, but that's the exception, not the rule here.

Hey, I'm not exactly an incendiary character; I've had maybe two quasi-arguments over e-mail, and they really weren't a big deal and fizzled out as they should have. Why? Because I didn't personalize, and I didn't lose perspective. I recognize that when people become close, things get more personal, and disagreements hurt more; trust me, I'm married--I know. But that makes it even more crucial for one person to step up and get on the path to resolution--and that means addressing the conflict head-on, not passive-aggressively.

We've got to channel our energy more toward personal growth and rapprochement with the people we care for; venting and public feuding needs to be kept to a minimum, because it's totally counterproductive for the stakeholders and unnecessarily involves bystanders.

But jezza, I think there's really good content here that's getting drowned out. Minus the wanna-fucks and the melodramatics, there's a nice mix of material, some hackneyed, some original, but at least those contributions are worthy of being viewed by all.

It doesn't matter who "started" it... what matters is who has guts enough to let it go rather than continuing it. Experience tells me that around here if you "defend" yourself from "attacks" either real or imagined the one that looks bad to the general readership is the one doing the defending, instead of the one doing the offending.

How someone puts a sentence together is something that they don't change a whole heck of a lot over time. Many people who have been on this site *know* me, regardless of the name that I use, by the way that I type. When someone suddenly starts typing in a manner that is contrary to their typing style I start asking questions. It doesn't matter *who* it is. 100% of the time the answer is can be found by watching the participants and how they type closely.

I haven't commented on blogs lately, but I do read them everyday. I've got to say that jezzerae is wrong, or at least this wasn't always the case. There used to be some really good blogs, and there still are, just not as many. There are alot of joke blogs and alot of whiny, horny blogs. But the ones that are good are few and far between. The people who wrote blogs, either gave up because no one commented on them, or they left. People leave comments on the blogs that stir the pot. Oops, I guess I did too.
