What is the law about holiday pay? Is the overtime rate time and a half or should they be paying double time? OR...does it differ with each company?
Can anyone enlighten me on this for the coming Memorial Day work hours?

Hi shell. How are you sweetie? I haven't seen you in awhile. As for your question I am not sure what the law is but most places pay at least time and a half. I think the double time pay is for like working on Sundays but I could be wrong sugar.

depends on the company and or union,,, nonuinon....... then if may if like Oregon... for non union,, it's only after 40 hrs it's 1 1/2..... has nothing to do with it being a holiday or weekend... Double time would most case's be union.

For my company, overtime is time and a half, Sundays are double time and holidays are triple time.

yep I believe holiday pay is up to your company. Where I work we get 7 holidays a year one being your birthday and we get an extra 8 hours so if you work that day it is double time, so I always try and work the holidays, which I usually don't have much of a choice anyway in the hospitality industry.

I think it also depends on your companies size that federal law says that federal holidays are time and a half. and it usually is up to a company whether overtime is anything over 40 hrs in a week or anything over 80 hrs in two weeks. I have worked for both kinds.

I thought it was no longer required for company's to pay time and a half? I know it varies from state to state, and from company to company. Check your states labor laws.

ask your union rep. otherwise there is no federal law that mandates sundays or holidays
