A Wish upon Love
On a walk through time,
In a land where hopes guide the way,
A young girl happens upon a wishing well
In a place thought to be desolate.
To her surprise,
A feeling of total peace overcomes her
as she reaches into her pocket
to retrieve a single coin that she picked up
along the way.
Though this coin carried more value
Than any amount of money she had held
In her possession in quite some time,
She knew that it was merely a fragment
Of the cost to obtain much
That would amount to anything.
As she approaches the brink
Of this collector of wishes made,
Her mind wanders through
The many wants, needs, and desires held within.
Each comes into focus and then quickly fades
As she searches for the solitary thing
She can no longer live without.
Without hesitation,
She releases the coin
And watches as it descends
With hopes of brighter tomorrows to come.
A smile parts her lips,
She takes in a deep breath
And lets out a sigh of relief.
As she turns to continue her walk,
She rests assured that the keeper of the stars
Has heard her wish.
Costing very little to make,
Having her wish for love come true
Would be considered priceless.
