So here I am sitting at my computer in my room and my kickass atomic clock thingy is telling me its 87 degrees in here. My superhightech fan thats supposed to be keeping my ass cool is pointing out the fact that its 88 on the other side of the room. I have my AC on, set at about 55, but I can't feel a damn thing coming out of any of the vents! I even have the vents shut downstairs to try to get extra air up here and nothing!

I don't know what to do to get the temperature to something reasonable. It was 94 at 3am while I was trying to sleep. Needless to say I could not. Seriously considering moving into the basement for the summer.

Yes, my first blog is a rant. Off to a great start WEEEEEE.

Sounds like its plugged up, out of freon, the fan has stopped working, or all the above. I'd make sure the fan is blowing and all debris, weeds, and grass are cleared from around the unit. Turn off the main power switch to it, then spray the cooling fins with a hose until you can see through them well. Power back up. Then if you have a hose vacuum, preferably a shop vac, unhook the vent tubing about 3 feet from where it comes into the house, first checking to see if the air coming in is cold. If it is cold then run the hose all over inside it both ways.( preferably with a brush attachment on it )
Repeat about every 6 feet until you cant go anymore. then do the same inside the wall vents.

Or pay some contractor an arm and a leg to do the same thing.

If the air is not cold or the fan isn't blowing, prepare to spend a pretty penny for an A/C mechanic if you own your house. If not, call the landlord.

Just my nickel.

If I put my hand on the vent I can feel a tiny bit of air, but its not very cool. It was working ok like a week ago. Bitching at the landlord sounds like a good idea, although it did take him like 2 months to get someone to fix our clothes dryer....

Till then I guess the palm leaves will have to do! haha.

I don't know how my dogs are dealing with this, one is even running around in circles like an idiot playing with his rope.

Sounds like blockage and freon, then. You're far from the first to have this problem. I am guessing its just been fired up for the spring, which is often when they break from sittin all winter. They will run a few days, then leaks start and dry bearings will fail. I'd definitely start hounding the landlord now, so maybe it will get fixed before the really hot summer months start up

Just an FYI for everyone..if you have a dog, or your area around your A/C unit is accessible to them, put a small fence around it. Dogs LOVE to piss on them, and its highly corrosive to the units fins. That cost me a new unit once...about 1200 dollars for a used one.

AC is in the basement and for some reason my dogs refuse to go down there. They'll follow me anywhere, but if I go in the basement they will be waiting at the top of the stairs. Kinda weird. Also they know not to piss on anything that isn't grass unless they want to get whacked on their ass.

I made a rhyme, GREAT SUCCESS!

I love these emoticon things.

Man!!! As far as I'm concerned the temp is just about right. I love it when it's in the 80's and 90's.

Give me 68-72 any day. I think I am hot blooded. I get warm a lot more easily than I get cold.

I just went and bought a mini AC unit for my room

So hopefully it will be nice and cool soon and I won't be and will actually be able to .
