So, I’m on my way to work one day, and I notice that I have a tire on my car going flat. So I fire up the ol air compressor and inflate the tire. Several days later, I notice it’s low on air again. And again, I inflate it. Well this goes on for about a month. I’m a mechanic by trade, but do you think I fix it? Nope, I just keep airing it up when it’s low.
Over the week end, I decided to take a look at the tire. I took it off the car, found a hole leaking air and plugged it, put it back on and drove it around. Out of habit from running it for a month with a leak I check it again and find it’s still leaking air. Back off the tire comes and I find another leak. Well I’m down to my last tire plug and when I try to plug the tire, it doesn’t want to go in. So I push harder and all of a sudden, the plug goes all the way into the tire. GREAT, now I have to wait until the morning before I can run all the way into town in my gas guzzling truck. Plus I need to mount the little donut spare tire in order the move the car to shut the garage door. (I guess that’s what I get for leaving the car half out of the garage).
So, at any rate, I go into town the next morning, buy some more plugs, and fix the tire. At last the leak is fixed. But, since I got so used to keeping an eye on the tire for low air, I feel lost now that I don’t have to air it up any more. It became a habit, and I kicked that one……..
