Okay, here it is...

Why do people spend time reading blogs... then, refuse to comment.

I have over 200 views on each of my blogs and an average of three or four comments.

Is it standard procedure here in the amd world to not comment on blogs? I try to comment on every blog I read...

Don't get me wrong; I'm not butt hurt or offended that people don't comment. I'm just curious... because... is it bad for me to comment on the blogs I read?

It's pretty common. A lot of people read but don't comment.
I got 55 comment on my roast of Dominus, mostly the same
people making more than one comment. But 365 views.

Sometimes it depends on how much time I have. Other times if a few people have already voiced an opinion that matches mine I leave it alone, or not.
But look, you might get a lot of responses to this one.......

Oh yeah, and a lot of times I don't respond if they are ones that have to wait for approval before the response posts.

I have noticed the same about my blogs. Fortunately, someone here warn me about this.

I guess one portion of those views could be attributed to people who have absolutely nothing to say regarding the subject matter or who feel that the OP or someone else has put it so well that there's nothing new they could add. Another portion could be attributed to repeat views of people who perhaps posted a comment but wanted to check back for responses to their comment or to view other people's comments.

i dont comment on most blogs..i read the blog then read everyone's comments..just to see if i get a laugh or to see what others had to say.

I'm one of those that Bentan spoke of...I'll read but, if I have nothing to add, say nothing. Sometimes I'll take the time to look at a blog and realize that the poster is, in my opinion, a total idiot/troll/whiner, and skip over that. Or I just look to see what others have had to say.

well when i look at a blog it is to see what else is writtern and then if i feel i want to make a comment i do sometimes i have nothing to say to or about the blog just like to read ones that spark my interest....hows that?

Well, there are a lot of blogs out there, and I kind of feel like it would be cheap if I added a token comment to every one I read just for the sake of it. If I'm moved to say something, then I say something... if I'm not, I don't. Sometimes I just like to absorb!

I only comment if I really want to say something about that topic. Lots of people just read for the entertainment and some people are just shy for whatever reason they dont want to place a comment for the public to see. I occasionally get blog comments in my email instead of posted on a blog.

Some people, including my self go back to the same blog many times to see the new comments. I read most blogs and only comment if I have something worthwhile to say, not just to say something. Sometimes I will say something as a reply a comment on a blog.

I comment on blogs if I have something to say about the subject.

Don't take it badly! At least they was looking. You have to inspire them to comment! Be it good or bad. They have little to add unless they've talked to you before and know you OR, you hit a nerve and demanded a response by a controversial subject.
You're doing fine, being respectful and all of that junk. Kudos to you! But, if you want responses, it'll take a bit more. You have to invoke responses by getting off of the beaten path and going out on a limb.
Seperate you from the average. Simple as that. Write what you truly feel and fuck the critics. That's how to get noticed.

You guys rock... I should have seen those as the obvious answers. Instead, I victimized myself; thinking... "No one likes me enough to write in my *stupid* blog... blah, blah, blah..."

It's interesting the tapes I play in my head... the self-talk that I say and the consequences that appear through my actions...

Thank you all for your great comments!!

I don't read blogs or comment on them so I have no idea of what you are talking about.
Seriously, I've noticed the time the blog is posted and subject matter matters greatly. Some would comment but don't want to burn bridges or you just pissed them off. While others just drive by.
A catchy headline pulls them in but may be the most interesting part.
What day of the week also can play a role. You'll figure it out.
Keep on blogging
